How long must I wait to ascend the tower?
The waiting time depends on the number of visitors in the tower, and how long they stay. This can amount to up to 1.5 hours, and on rare occasions, even longer. Please take into consideration that you may have to wait in a queue for some time to buy your ticket at the booking office. You can find out how to minimise your waiting time at Planning your visit.
Is there a limit to the number of guests the TV Tower can accommodate?
Yes. For safety reasons, the TV Tower is limited to 320 guests over both floors. This means that no more guests are permitted to the restaurant—even though it may not be full—when the total number of permitted guests has been met.
How many people visit the Berlin TV Tower each year?
Up to 1.2 million people visit the tower each year. The restaurant serves 1,500 guest and more each day.
What is a VIP ticket?
To the top of the Tower with no waiting? It’s possible with a VIP ticket. You decide the date and time you wish to visit and can reserve the next free table in the restaurant—meaning you no longer need to make a table reservation. Just speak to the members of our staff at the bottom of the stairs to the restaurant and show them your VIP ticket. The next available seating in the restaurant is reserved for you. However we cannot guarantee that you will have a table to yourself.
When should I use the SMS service?
If you are unable to obtain a VIP ticket, you might be required to wait before you can enter the TV Tower, as the maximum number of guests is limited for safety reasons. In this case you can send an SMS with the SMS code printed on your ticket to +39 (0) 151 15 16 39 22. You will receive a confirmation SMS and can then use the time to take in the sights or do a little shopping. Approximately 30 minutes before your estimated entry time to the Berlin TV Tower you will receive a second SMS stating your personal entry time. There are no additional costs in addition to normal SMS fees.
Is it important to heed the entry times for reservations?
Yes. Our innovative ticket system, which helps prevent lines forming in front of the ticket desk and keeps customers from spending unnecessary time waiting, can only work when visitors enter the Tower at the assigned times. Thus, visitors must appear at the turnstiles (no more than 5 to 10 prior to their entry time), although there might be a short wait for the elevators. The time of your visit to the restaurant can vary according to when you appear with your VIP ticket at the entrance to the restaurant—you are guaranteed the next free seating. However, we cannot guarantee that you will have a table to yourself.
How long can I stay on the panorama level or in the restaurant?
As long as you like. However, we ask you to understand that in the case of available reservations of tables in the restaurant, these are made for a limited time period.
How does the kitchen at the Berlin TV Tower work? What’s different about it?
For reasons of safety there are two kitchens. One is located 200 meters below the restaurant and the other is 200 meters outside of the Tower, where the dishes are prepared. The dishes are then delivered several times a day to the 11-square-meter kitchen located on the restaurant level where they are finished prior to serving.
Do I have to pay entrance to the tower even if I intend to visit the restaurant?
Yes. This is the case with all of the member towers in the World Federation of Great Towers. Entry to the towers is only free where food and beverages are twice as expensive as those in the Berlin TV Tower, meaning that the entry price is actually a part of the price of the meal.
Where can I park?
You can find parking spaces in the multi-storey car park of the ‘Park Inn’ Hotel and in one of the car parks in Grunderstraße. You can find the location of these car parks at Location plan & directions.
